Cleaning Assistant
Grade 1 (SCP 2) £12.65 per hour
Fixed-term/Part-time – initially until 24th July 2026, 10 hours per week
We are a friendly, welcoming school seeking to appoint a reliable and detail-focused Cleaning Assistant responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the school site. The successful candidate will take pride in their work and value the importance of a clean, safe and well-presented environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
The role is 10-hour per week, Monday to Friday, worked either between 6:00–8:00am or 3:30–5:30pm. We are happy to agree the preferred pattern upon appointment.
Main Job purpose:
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across the school as part of a small, supportive cleaning team.
- Ensure the environment remains clean, safe and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
- Use attention to detail and a proactive approach to keep all areas well-presented.
- Carry out routine cleaning tasks (e.g. sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping surfaces and emptying bins) in line with agreed schedules and procedures.
Ideally, you will:
- Have experience in a commercial cleaning role (school experience is helpful but not essential).
- Be able to use cleaning products and equipment safely, including awareness of Health & Safety/COSHH guidance.
- Be reliable and punctual, able to work independently, and contribute positively to the team.
School cleaning experience is not required — we will provide full training.
