Hello Polar Bears and Seals!

Welcome to the Year 1 page!

We hope you have a restful Easter break, and enjoy lots of family time.

Our topics this term are  'Terrific Toys!' followed by 'In the garden'. We will be learning about 'Plants' and continue to explore 'Seasons' in Science. In Geography we will be learning all about 'Our local area' and in History we will discover and explore 'Toys- past and present'

We have another exciting trip to look forward to, sports day and exciting creations!

Please carry on supporting your child by reading at home with them as often as possible and access bug club when you can. Children who read at home, get a star on their star chart each week. Once this is full they can choose a prize! Bug Club contributes to the home reading, so please record in their diary.

It is vital, where possible, that you help your child to develop their reading and phonic skills supporting fluency and vocabulary development. Ask your child to help write a shopping list or read labels, these small shared activities can go a long way.

Links to support your child's learning can be found below.

Click on the 'What are we learning this term?' tab above to find out more about our curriculum and the children's learning.

Important Information

Library - Every other Thursday. Please remember books must be returned to get a new one.

Forest School - Thursday - Please come to school in Uniform!

Please remember your child needs a labelled water bottle in school each day. When possible, please ensure the bottle is filled with water only to follow our healthy school policy and in cases of spillages.

A snack will be provided, however if you wish to provide an alternative healthy snack for your child you may do so. Your child will also need a suitable coat in school each day. Can we please request coats/hats/gloves are clearly labelled to prevent any lost property.

Suncream- please can we request that you apply suncream to your child before they come to school. They can have suncream (clearly labelled with their name) in their bag to apply if necessary, however this must be applied indpendently. Please speak to your child about sensible use and not sharing with their friends.

Hats- Please ensure your child has a clearly labelled hat with them during the summer term- a spare one to be left in their tray would be beneficial.

Many Thanks for your ongoing support,

Year 1 team.
