Our Early years Foundation Stage creates a caring, safe, happy and stimulating environment to ignite children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and to prepare them for Key Stage 1.

Our curriculum is built around our core school values of Respect, Community and Perseverance. It enables each child to develop personally, socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically, creatively and intellectually. We value each child as an individual, considering the needs, interests and stage of development for each child in our care and use this information to plan challenging and enjoyable learning experiences in all 7 Early Years areas of learning. We use observation to find out what children know and can already do and identify next steps to build and extend their knowledge, vocabulary and development. In addition, our curriculum and learning environments allow children to regularly revisit, practise and consolidate their knowledge and make skills secure.

We provide a balance of structured adult-led and child-initiated activities in both our indoor and shared outdoor environments which include practical, first-hand experiences and purposeful play. These opportunities encourage children to explore, investigate, create, problem-solve and explain, helping children make sense of the world around them as they begin to understand specific concepts.
