Team GB Cyclist Joanna Rowsell Shand MBE

On Tuesday 15th October 2019 we were visited by double Olympic gold medal winning cyclist Joanna Rowsell Shand MBE.

In Collective Worship this term we are learning about one of our school’s core values, respect and that week we were focusing on showing respect for other people’s achievements. Joanna inspired us by telling us all about her amazing achievements and the hard work that went into reaching the pinnacle of her sport with gold medal performances at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics. She told us about her training regimes and the importance of another one of our core values: perseverance.

Joanna also told us about her diet when in training and taught us about the importance of a balanced diet as part of a healthy lifestyle and then some of us were lucky enough to hold her gold medals!

Christian Theme of the Month

The Christian theme for this half term is 'Perseverance'.

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4.13

In school and at home we will be:

Exploring the value of perseverance.

Encouraging pupils to persevere and try their best in all that they do.

Exploring what we can do to persevere in challenging times.

Parents and carers, please help us at home to support your child in their understanding of the above concepts.
